Saturday 17th – NYSD Division 3

Newton Aycliffe 1st XI v Blackhall 1st XI – weather was hot and sunny. Blackhall won the toss and chose to bowl first.

Newton Aycliffe 1st XI 198 for 9 after 40 overs
Chris Palmer 49, Tom Dearden 43, Jimmy Newton 21 and Ramzan Hussain (18 not out)

Blackhall 1st XI 152 all out after 36.1 overs
Ben Howard 3 for 24, Leo Mercy 2 for 15 and Ramzan Hussain 2 for 15

Aycliffe’s first team maintained their unbeaten home record this season with an excellent 46 run victory at home to Blackhall 1st XI, which moved them up to fourth in the table.
In form captain Chris Palmer was again amongst the runs when he top scored with 49 off 46 balls and his valuable innings included six boundaries and a six.
Ben Howard, who was playing his first game of the season was the pick of the six pronged Aycliffe attack, finishing with 3 for 24 from his eight overs.
Ramzan Hussain (pictured) had an excellent all round game, firstly scoring a very important unbeaten 18 off 31 balls with the bat and then chipping in with a couple of vital wickets with the ball.

Saturday 17th May – NYSD Division 4

Bedale 2nd XI v Newton Aycliffe 2nd XI – weather was hot and sunny. Newton Aycliffe won the toss and chose to bat first.

Newton Aycliffe 2nd XI 155 all out after 39.1 overs
Shashank Garg 72, Matty French 23 and Trent Telford 14

Bedale 2nd XI 158 for 6 after 25.5 overs
Dan Weldon 5 for 53 and Will Moffatt 1 for 10

The second team put in a battling performance, but still went down by four wickets away at Bedale 2nd XI.
Opening batsman Shashank Garg was in excellent for as he top scored with a classy 72 off 69 balls and included 11 boundaries and two sixes.
When the homeside replied, Aycliffe at times only had 9 fielders due to injuries, but despite the difficult situation, captain Dan Weldon was in superb form with the ball finishing with his season’s best figures of 5 for 53 from his lengthy eight over spell.

Sunday 25th May at 1.00 pm – Hambleton League – Newton Aycliffe Women v Hutton Rudby Women
Bank Holiday Monday 26th May at 1.00 pm – NYSD Division 4 – Newton Aycliffe 2nd XI v Maltby 2nd XI
