The first team gave themselves an outside chance of avoiding relegation after an impressive 80 run victory at home to promotion candidates and local rivals Shildon 1st XI.
Sam Telford batted superbly for Aycliffe, smashing the bowling to all parts of the ground when he scored 63 off just 31 balls and his aggressive innings included seven boundaries and four sixes.
Luke Telford (sponsored by JR Smith Electrical Services) then took the honours with the ball finishing with the excellent figures of 5 for 25 from 10.2 overs.
The day was made even more special for Luke Telford when his 13 year old son Trent was drafted in to the team to make his first team debut and the youngster put in a faultless display in the field.
After 20 games, the first team have 180 points and remain 2nd bottom of the NYSD 2nd division table, but the gap behind 3rd from bottom Stockton has now been cut to 31 points, but there are only two games left to play.

There was an outstanding performance by Aycliffe’s opening batsman Jai Sander (sponsored by Armstrong Building Services) who carried his bat for a season’s best score of 64 not out off 89 balls and his innings included ten boundaries.
Fourteen-year-old Will Moffatt took the honours with the ball finishing with 2 for 35 from his six over spell.
Special mention must go to 16-year-old Isabelle Tait who made her senior debut in the 2nd team and proved an able deputy for her Dad who had dropped out before the match due to injury.
