Saturday 10th August – NYSD Division 2

Newton Aycliffe 1st XI v Maltby 1st XI – weather was hot and sunny. Newton Aycliffe won the toss and chose to bowl first.

Maltby 1st XI 91 all out after 27.4 overs
James Layfield-Carroll 5 for 24 Luke Telford 4 for 27

Newton Aycliffe 1st XI 94 for 4 after 21 overs
Tom Dearden 44 not out, Chris Palmer 18 not out and Sam Telford 15

The first team had a comfortable win by six wickets at home to fellow relegation candidates Maltby 1st XI.
Captain James Layfield-Carroll (sponsored by Yvonne & Bob Wood) continued his excellent recent form with the ball, finishing his marathon 14 over spell with the impressive figures of 5 for 24, including five maidens.
The Aycliffe reply was again lead by 17 year opening batsman Tom Dearden who helped take his side to their winning target when he top scored with 44 not out off 58 balls and his controlled innings included four boundaries and two sixes.
After 16 games, the first team have 139 points and remain at the bottom of the NYSD 2nd division table, eight points adrift of safety behind 3rd from bottom Stockton.

Sunday 11th August – NYSD Division 4

Billingham Synthonia 2nd XI v Newton Aycliffe 2nd XI – weather was hot and sunny. Newton Aycliffe won the toss and chose to bat first.

Newton Aycliffe 2nd XI 116 all out after 38.1 overs
Matty French 26, Jimmy Newton 25 and Matty Greaves 20

Billingham Synthonia 2nd XI 118 for 4 after 26.1 overs
Tom Dearden 2 for 23, Tom Norman 1 for 6 and Leon Patel 1 for 27

Newton Aycliffe 2nd XI lost by six wickets away at promotion chasing Billingham Synthonia 2nd XI in the NYSD 4th division.
Fifteen-year-old Will Dearden (sponsored by Community Spirit, pictured above) had a good game for Aycliffe. Firstly scoring 18 runs off 20 balls, including two boundaries in the Aycliffe innings and then took 2 for 23 when the homeside batted.
Credit must also go to opening batsman Matty French who held the Aycliffe innings together when he top scored with a gritty 26 runs off 70 balls, including three boundaries.
After 18 games, the second team have 159 points and drop down a place to 8th in the fourth division table.

Sunday 18th August at 12.30pm – NYSD Division 2 – Stockton 2nd XI v Newton Aycliffe 1st XI
