Saturday 20th July – NYSD Division 2

Newton Aycliffe 1st XI v Hartlepool 2nd XI – weather was sunny and warm. Hartlepool won the toss and chose to bowl first.

Newton Aycliffe 1st XI 118 all out after 47 overs
James Layfield-Carroll 41 and Leo Stout 10 not out

Hartlepool 2nd XI 122 for 9 after 38.1 overs
Luke Telford 4 for 47, Tom Dearden 3 for 21 and Ben Howard 1 for 10

The first team had a heart breaking defeat by just one wicket at home to Hartlepool after putting in a tremendous effort in the field.
Captain James Layfield-Carroll continued his good form with the bat when he top scored with 41 runs off 42 balls and his innings contained a couple of boundaries and three sixes.
When the visitors batted, Luke Telford (sponsored by JR Smith Electricals) took the honours with the ball for Aycliffe, finishing a lengthy 15 over spell with the excellent figures of 4 for 47.
After 13 games, the first team have 108 points and remain just two points above the relegation places in 10th position in the NYSD 2nd division table.

Saturday 20th July – NYSD Division 4

Northallerton 2nd XI v Newton Aycliffe 2nd XI – weather was sunny and warm. Northallerton won the toss and chose to bat first.

Northallerton 2nd XI 184 for 4 after 40 overs
Tom Norman 2 for 37, Leon Patel 1 for 24 and Matty Greaves 1 for 24

Newton Aycliffe 2nd XI 107 all out after 27.1 overs
Ramzan Hussain 25, Charlie Cayless 25 and Leon Patel 24

Newton Aycliffe 2nd XI lost by 77 runs away at Northallerton 2nd XI.
Leon Patel (sponsored by Leas Flowers) had a good game for Aycliffe, scoring 24 runs off 41 balls and taking a wicket when the homeside batted. Charlie Cayless also batted well with a fluent 25 off 20 balls, including three boundaries.

Sunday 21st July – NYSD Division 4

Newton Aycliffe 2nd XI v Bedale 2nd XI – weather was sunny and warm. Newton Aycliffe won the toss and chose to bowl first.

Bedale 2nd XI 102 all out after 33.4 overs
Leon Patel 3 for 17, Leo Mercy 3 for 24 and Matty Greaves 2 for 17

Newton Aycliffe 2nd XI 104 for 1 after 20.4 overs
Chris Palmer 70 not out, Matty French 22 not out and Jai Sander 10

Newton Aycliffe 2nds had a mixed weekend and after suffering a defeat on the Saturday, returned to form with a comfortable win by nine wickets at home to Bedale on the Sunday.
Chris Palmer (sponsored by AccScents Aromas, pictured above) had a welcome return to form when he top scored with a season’s best score of 70 off 56 balls, reaching the boundary on 12 occasions and he also hit two sixes.
After 15 games, the second team have 149 points and move up to 7th place in the fourth division table.
