Saturday 2nd September – NYSD Division 2

Newton Aycliffe 1st XI v Maltby 1st XI – weather was warm and sunny. Newton Aycliffe won the toss and chose to bowl first.

Maltby 1st XI 151 all out after 32.5 overs
Luke Telford 6 for 30, Tom Dearden 3 for 26 and Matty Greaves 1 for 34

Newton Aycliffe 1st XI 109 all out after 39.5 overs
Tom Dearden 25, Adam Gittins 24 and Joe Teasdale 13

Newton Aycliffe’s 1st team lost by 42 runs at home to Maltby 1st XI in their penultimate game in division 2 of the NYSD League.

All rounder Luke Telford (sponsored by Dean and Tina Greaves, pictured above) continued his outstanding season taking six wickets for just 30 runs with the ball during a marathon 13 over spell. These were Telford’s best bowling figures for six seasons and they were the best bowling figures by an Aycliffe player this season.
Aycliffe picked up seven points from their defeat against Maltby, taking their points total to 230 from 21 games played and they remain in sixth place in the NYSD 2nd division table with only one game left to play.

Saturday 2nd September – NYSD Division 4

Maltby 2nd XI v Newton Aycliffe 2nd XI – weather was warm and sunny. Newton Aycliffe won the toss and chose to bowl first.

Maltby 2nd XI 186 for 3 after 40 overs
Patrick Howe 2 for 21 and Ramzan Hussain 1 for 17

Newton Aycliffe 2nd XI 148 all out after 35 overs
Dan Bowmer 38, Dan Heaton 27 and Ramzan Hussain 17

Aycliffe’s 2nd team were beaten away at Maltby 2nd XI by 38 runs in their NYSD 4th division match.
Dan Bowmer top scored in Aycliffe’s innings with his seasonal best score of 38 off 50 balls faced and his excellent innings included five boundaries.
The second team picked up just four points from their defeat to Maltby and now have 218 points from 23 games played and they drop down to eighth place in the NYSD fourth division table with just one game remaining this season.

Saturday 9th September at 12.30pm – NYSD Division 2 – Newton Aycliffe 1st XI v Barnard Castle 2nd XI
