A round-up of the weekend’s cricket action…

Saturday 18th May – NYSD Division 2
Guisborough 1st XI v Newton Aycliffe 1st XI – weather was cold and overcast. Aycliffe won the toss and chose to bowl first.

Guisborough 1st XI 152 all out after 46 overs
James Layfield-Carroll 5 for 25, Jack Slatcher 3 for 39 and Patrick Howe 1 for 26

Newton Aycliffe 1st XI 91 all out after 31.5 overs
Michael Howe 45 not out and Adam Randall 18

Aycliffe’s first team lost away at top of the table Guisborough 1st XI by 62 runs. Fast bowler James Layfield-Carroll (sponsored by Signature Tiling, pictured above) again impressed, finishing his lengthy ten over spell with career best figures of 5 for 25.
Aycliffe remain in eighth place in the NYSD 2nd division table with 61 points from six games played.

Saturday 18th May – NYSD Division 4
Preston 1st XI v Newton Aycliffe 2nd XI – weather was cold and overcast with showers. Preston won the toss and chose to bat first.

Preston 1st XI 271 for 5 declared after 39 overs
Matty Greaves 2 for 38, George Slatcher 1 for 34 and Joe Haines 1 for 62

Newton Aycliffe 2nd XI 63 for 7 after 36 overs
Joe Haines 36 not out and James Brown 12

Aycliffe’s second team again battled hard to earn a draw away at Preston 1st XI to maintain their unbeaten start to the season. Captain Joe Haines (sponsored by Pheonix Energy) again top scored, this time finishing unbeaten on 36 from 95 balls faced and his dogmatic innings included three boundaries.
The second team sit in 8th place in the NYSD 4th division table with 19 points from four games played.

Saturday 25th May at 1.00pm – NYSD Division 2 – Newton Aycliffe 1st XI v Norton 1st XI
Saturday 25th May at 1.30pm – NYSD Division 4 – Blackhall 2nd XI v Newton Aycliffe 2nd XI
