ARRESTS AFTER ‘ORGANISED’ TESCO THEFTS

April 24th, 2012 Martin Walker News 1 comments 0

By Martin Walker

Police have made several arrests after a series of “organised” thefts from the Tesco store in Aycliffe.

Two men are currently helping our Neighbourhood Policing Team with their enquiries after they made a string of arrests.

In his regular blog on Aycliffe Today, NPT Sergeant Mark Edwards said: “We have received several reports of persons of Eastern European descent stealing clothing from Tesco and, to date, several arrests have been made.

“In fact, as I write this blog we currently have two males in custody at Bishop Auckland who were arrested shortly after police received similar reports from Tesco.

“These crimes may at face value seem petty in nature, however they are far from it.

“Crimes of this nature are organised and have been observed to have been committed nationwide.

“Those persons responsible can make quite a significant profit from sending these stolen items overseas.”

I would urge anyone witnessing anyone acting suspiciously in and around the area of clothing recycling bins to contact police.”

I don’t understand why anyone would want to steal clothing. Genuine people work hard to be able to get clothes and other things and those who cannot work or the disabled have low income and often have to go without.

I don’t understand why these people just seek professional and free advice and start their own business and sell clothes legally, they’d make a lot more profit that way and grants are available for start up businesses too but not from business link unless you have a lot of money to put into it first, be-enterprising if they are still going are helpful.
