Ambitious account manager grows Tees Business sales team

November 11th, 2022 Martin Walker Business 0 comments 0

Resolution Media and Publishing say they’re excited by their latest appointment of another experienced sales professional as they seek to expand their range of publications and events in the year ahead.

Carol Makepeace has joined the team behind Tees Business – sister publication to Aycliffe Business – as the Middlesbrough-based publishers aim to grow their team and sales in 2023.

She joins Resolution with more than 30 years’ experience in media sales and will work with sales manager Chris Garbutt to grow existing publications and events, as well as developing new products.

Carol started her career working for the Northern Echo group which included the Darlington and Stockton Times and the Advertiser series of publications, over an eight-year period covering everything from special features to key accounts across the North-East region.

She then worked for UK Kompass and British Exports business directories as sales manager, covering the north of England.

Carol has since spent more than 20 years working for the National Farmers Union (NFU) as sales manager across the North-East and North-West regions, managing a portfolio of publications and special projects including the flagship magazines British Farmer and Grower Magazine.

“Joining Resolution Media and Publishing is a fantastic opportunity,” said Carol, from Durham.

“I have lived and worked in the region all my life and I am passionate about working with North-East businesses and building on the success of Tees Business and the annual award events.”

Resolution have already revealed a fourth major event for 2023, the Tees Business Awards, to complement their established Tees Businesswomen Awards, Tees Tech Awards and Best New Tees Business Awards.

The firm also successfully relaunched This Is Tees Valley earlier this year, an annual national magazine, and they’re aiming to launch another niche annual publication in 2023, as well as other events.

Carol added: “I am delighted to join at such an exciting time and will be looking to build on the success of the print publications and business awards. Working with such a hardworking and enthusiastic team with ambitious plans is inspiring.”

Carol – who has joined Resolution to focus on the company’s Tees-based products – follows the recent appointment of Colin Rutherford as account manager for their Sunderland-based Wear Business publication.

Resolution is also currently advertising for a new digital marketing officer role to develop the firm’s growing digital output across all platforms.

Resolution non-executive director Bob Cuffe MBE said: “These are exciting times for the team at Resolution Media and Publishing – Carol joining us with her experience and enthusiasm allows us to develop and expand our Teesside portfolio.

“The addition of both Carol and Colin to the regional team illustrates how ambitious and confident we are – and the new digital marketing officer role fits perfectly into our plans.”
