Alumni workshops for Greenfield Students

November 6th, 2019 Martin Walker Community 0 comments 0

Students at Greenfield Community College have been given a valuable opportunity to meet former students and learn about their experiences and career choices.

Year 7 students were able to take part in workshops led by Greenfield alumni to discuss the pathway they have taken through education.

The mentors including Jordan Coulthard (police officer), Kayliegh Atkinson (paediatric nurse), Mary O’Sullivan (mortgage processor) Stuart Furlonger (police officer) and Steve Boyes (company director) – were able to enlighten students, recounting their experience as to how they got to where they are now and the skills and qualities that are required in the jobs they do.

Students were keen to find out how they were inspired to make choices and were given time to consider their own strengths and weaknesses and how they might build upon these to help achieve their personal goals.

The workshops were a great success with students engaging with the mentors and making most of the time available.

Greenfield Community College have partnered with the national education charity Future First who specialise in helping schools stay connected with former students.

The initiative helps motivate and inspire current students to feel more confident in making decisions about their future.
