ALLOY WHEELS STOLEN IN AYCLIFFE

February 10th, 2012 Martin Walker News 0 comments 0

By Martin Walker

Police are hunting thieves who stole expensive allow wheels from a car in Aycliffe during last night.

Now our Neighbourhood Policing Team are appealing for witnesses to catch the villains.

A Ford Focus Zetec ’08 plate had all its alloy wheels stolen from it between 11.30pm last night and 7.30am today.

The car was parked in a parking bay at Fenhall Green in the Agnew estate near Woodham.

The suspects have used a plant-pot which was frozen due to the weather to smash a rear passenger side window to gain entry inside – they have climbed through the smashed window to get in.

The locking wheel nut has been taken from the glove compartment and this has been used to remove the four alloy wheels.

They have also taken the spare wheel from the boot and the car jack which has been used to jack up the victim’s car by the suspects who have then removed the wheels.

NPT sergeant Mark Edwards (pictured) said: “The suspects would have had to have had a vehicle to remove the wheels from the scene due to the weight and size of them – there was also a scuff mark left along the side of the victim’s car suggesting that another vehicle was parked alongside it by the suspects.

“A Tom Tom sat-nav was also stolen from inside the glove compartment.

“We have conducted a lot of house-to-house enquiries in the area and are awaiting the results of forensic examination of the victim’s car, but are appealing to anyone with any information to come forward.

“This may be persons or vehicles who were seen acting suspiciously on the night in question.

“My team are conducting the investigation. This crime has obviously caused great inconvenience to the owner of the vehicle who now has to replace and repair the damage.”

As usual, anyone with information is asked to call the beat team direct on 01325 742621, or email [email protected]
