Aldi introduces Glastonbury-style digital queueing software to manage Kevin the Carrot demand

November 11th, 2020 Martin Walker Features 0 comments 0

Aldi says it’s anticipating such demand for its upcoming Christmas advert plush toys featuring Kevin the Carrot, that it has employed the same online queuing technology as Glastonbury to manage the clamour on its website when the toys are released.

The nation’s most beloved vegetable Kevin returned to screens last week in Aldi’s 2020 Christmas advert, with millions of viewers seeing it.

With Kevin making his fifth consecutive Christmas advert appearance with Aldi, his fanbase has become huge.

For the first time ever Aldi’s plush toy range of Kevin and friends will be sold via Deliveroo – just in time for Christmas!

The range will launch on Aldi’s website from 8am on Sunday, November 15, and will be available via Deliveroo on the same day, while in store on sale dates will vary.

But Aldi, which has a store in Newton Aycliffe, says shoppers must remember, as with all Specialbuys, once they’re gone, they’re gone!

The plush toy range includes the new Pilot Kevin and a whole host of new friends, including Wingman Turkey, Harry the Hedgehog, Grate Grandma and Grate Grandad (£3.99 each or available as a bundle exclusively online for £19.95)

The range also sees the return of Kevin and Katie the Carrot (each £3.99) and a family of Chantenay, Jasper and Baby (£3.99 for the set).

For an even bigger helping of carrots this Christmas, shoppers can also get their hands on Giant Kevin (£19.99), a festive favourite complete with a Christmas party hat.

Superfans can also unwrap presents on Christmas morning in style with Kevin the Carrot Christmas Pyjamas (£4.99-£9.99).

Available in adult and children’s sizes, the whole family can have a Merry Christmas!

And for those who really want to go all out, don’t forget the all important carrot on the Christmas Tree with Aldi’s range of Kevin the Carrot Plush Tree Decorations (£2.99 each).

Customers will be restricted to a maximum of two of each variant in order to ensure everyone gets a chance to enjoy Kevin this Christmas.

And, as part of the supermarket’s five-year partnership with The Teenage Cancer Trust, Aldi has pledged to make a fixed donation of £15,000 going directly to the charity.

Aldi’s Kevin the Carrot range is available to pre order online from 15th November, in store on sale dates will vary and toys will be available while stocks last. The full range can be found below:
