400 people attend Community Spirit fair at Big Club

March 6th, 2019 Martin Walker Community 0 comments 0

Around 400 people attended a fair organised by Newton Aycliffe Community Spirit.

It was the first event organised by Community Spirit, a new group set up by local Rotarian Nev Jones.

More than £1,100 was raised from the ‘Craft & Trade Fair’, which is hoped will be the first of many similar events.

“We had a fabulous event with wonderful stalls and an excellent response from the public,” said organiser Nev.

“It was just one big community effort – and there was a fantastic atmosphere there on the day.

“A huge thanks to everyone who participated, but a special thanks to the committee and staff at the Big Club who were so helpful and amenable.”

Alan Nelson, from Aycliffe WMC, said: “On behalf of the Big Club I want to say that it was an absolute pleasure to work with the Community Spirit team and help to make their event a resounding success.

“It was great to see so many visitors enjoying the event and in particular the children having such a good time in our establishment.”

Nev said the money raised will go towards setting up Aycliffe Community Spirit as a formal organisation and helping to fund future events.
