Newtonian Nige to run 100k during lockdown 2.0 for local good causes

November 18th, 2020 Martin Walker Community 0 comments 0

Newtonian Nige Slatcher has pledged to run 100 kilometres during lockdown in an ambitious bid to raise £1,000 for good causes.

The chairman of Newton Aycliffe Juniors FC has committed to the fundraising feat during the period of the second Covid lockdown.

He has set up a Go Fund Me page and is hoping to raise £500 each for the RoyalBritish Legion and the junior football club.

“As the national lockdown has been imposed on the UK and my beloved gym has closed I thought this a great opportunity to keep myself active and raise some money for two great causes,” said Nige.

“I plan to run 100 kilometres over the period of lockdown and hope you good people will sponsor me to do so!

“The funds that I will donate to the Royal British Legion will be to help support veterans, Forces personnel and their families who have served and sacrificed throughout the generations.

“The Royal British Legion provides aid in many forms – from bereavement support to homelessness and everything in between.

“I am sure you agree a very worthwhile cause. Any funds I donate to NAFC Junior Section will be to help our local grassroots junior football club, a non-profit charter standard club who provide the opportunity for children aged from 4 years to 18 years to have fun, develop their skills and play football in safe and friendly environment.

“Any sponsorship of any amount would be gratefully received! I’ll keep you all updated on my 100k progress throughout the month.”
