Aycliffe Juniors round-up

October 3rd, 2017 Martin Walker Youth Football 0 comments 0

There was lots of cup action for the Newton Aycliffe Juniors teams who play in the TJFA league this week. The League Cup continued for the Under 12’s whilst other teams began their Challenge Cup campaigns.

The Under 7’s had their first taste of cup action but were forced to give up home advantage to Heighington as their allocated pitch at Sunnydale was unplayable. They were beaten by an excellent side but the players effort and commitment was rewarded with Harry Dunn’s goal. The Aycliffe coaches were proud of the performance put in by all involved.

The Under 8’s traveled to face North Riding league Kader FC Athletic and came away with a 9-2 win. Thomas got a hatrick, man of the match Dylan and Alex scored two each with Zeke and Lewis also on target.

The Under 9’s had a tough challenge playing Boro Rangers ‘Green’ from North Riding Division One. In the first half Aycliffe’s effort was rewarded with one goal for Kai but they found themselves 3-1 down. The visitors continued to play well and won the game 5-1, Harry was the man of the match for the Juniors.

The Under 10’s ‘Black’ also played against Division One opponents at home with Norton & Stockton ‘Amber’ the visitors. They put in a great display to push their higher league opponents all the way but narrowly lost 3-2. Joseph scored twice for Aycliffe and Jack was superb in goal.

The Under 10 ‘White’ were visited by Division Four team Stockton Rangers. They won the game comfortably, man of the match Dom scored five goals, Jack got a hatrick with Jayden and Harvey also scoring one each.

The Under 11’s played at home against Brompton Juniors, who they will face later in the league season. They booked their place in the next round with a 6-4 win. Charlie and Zak terrified the visitors with their pace and scored two first half goals each. Brompton came back to make the score 4-3 but Aycliffe dug deep with man of the match Cody superb in defence. Further goals came as Charlie completed his hatrick and Jake grabbed the teams sixth before a late penalty was conceded.

The Under 12 Russell Foster League team played at Sunnydale against the unbeaten Gateshead Redheugh who proved their strength in a 5-1 win. Anthony scored a consolation goal which rewarded the team’s hard work, Tom B was the man of the match.

The Under 12 TJFA league team were visited by lower league Wolsingham FC. They opened up a two goal lead with Dom and Kayne scoring before the lead was halved by the visitors. Two Liam goals before the break saw Aycliffe turn round 4-1 up. In the second half Evan, Lucas, Jake P and Dom scored in what turned out to be a comfortable 8-1 win.

The Under 13’s were also at home and played Hardwick Youth but the Aycliffe side had a depleted squad and were beaten 6-1. Lewis scored in the first half making it 2-1 at the break. After this injuries forced the team to play with ten men and they slipped to defeat. The opposition manager named Ben as the man of the match.

The Under 16’s cup draw handed Aycliffe a repeat of their recent league trip to Whitby to play Goldsborough United. They returned with the same outcome as the last trip, winning 2-1 to progress to the next round. They had to comeback from 1-0 down and man of the match Jayden got both the goals.

All at the Juniors are looking forward to a Community Day on Saturday 7th October in association with Newton Aycliffe FC at Moore Lane from 12.30-14.15. Come along if you want to get involved.
